On a chance encounter, Lisa Quam, who coincidentally was working on a neighbor’s home (listed by Shapiro and Sher), knocked on our door to introduce herself and to comment on how beautiful she thought our home was. Normally, my wife would not answer the door, let alone invite a stranger into our home, especially on a whim. However, a relationship ensued and upon learning or our family’s near term interest in selling and moving to the west side of town, Lisa earned the business and secured the listing. On a chance encounter, Lisa Quam, who coincidentally was working on a neighbor’s home (listed by Shapiro and Sher), knocked on our door to introduce herself and to comment on how beautiful she thought our home was. Normally, my wife would not answer the door, let alone invite a stranger into our home, especially on a whim. However, a relationship ensued and upon learning or our family’s near term interest in selling and moving to the west side of town, Lisa earned the business and secured the listing. More importantly, my wife made a new friend. Being in commercial real estate for 25 + years, I often see brokers who take deals to market, open escrow and you never hear from them until the day of close to collect their commission. It’s however, my belief that a broker’s real work begins once escrow is opened. This is where Lisa shined. Now, I don’t have the time nor the stomach to fully explain the details of the transaction, but let’s just say this, the Buyers were insufferable and the conduct of their broker inexcusable. What originally started as a two-week close turned into a 6-month escrow with banking regulations delays, last minute weekend cancelations for showings, tax return issues, haggling over furniture, personal affects and belongings and 4 closing extensions. Through it all, Lisa and her team were there, above and beyond. Even on holiday while in the Caribbean, Lisa was available, at the ready, and would promptly return emails, texts and calls. She was available 24/7. Being in a profession where I require a great deal from both myself, other brokers and my clients, Lisa measured up!
